Oatmeal Cookies

Bear's Anecdote - A friend of mine from Huntsville, Alabama (Tim P. - It isn't good to give full names on the internet.) gave me a great stack of recipes. Here is one of them.

• 1 c. butter
• 1 c. sugar
• 1 c. well-packed brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1/4 c. molasses
• 1 tblsp. vanilla
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1-1/2 c. flour
• 3 c. oatmeal

Variations
• 1 c. raisins
• 1 c. dates
• 1 c. nuts
• Grated lemon or orange peel
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. cloves
• 1/2 tsp. ginger
• 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

That is where the recipe ended. We have to guess. What fun!!

1. Cream together butter, sugar and brown sugar.
2. Add eggs, molassas and vanilla.
3. In another bowl, sift together flour, spices, salt and baking soda.
4. Add flour stuff to batter and mix.
5. Mix in oats a bit at a time.
6. Add dates, nuts or raisins as desired.
7. Bake at ?? degrees for ?? minutes.
8. Immediately remove cookies to towel to cool.
